WHAT I THINK: Benfica is one of my FAVORITE neighborhoods in Fortaleza – particularly the places featured in this post. The area is very relaxed and feels like a block party every weekend. The bar food is great and affordable and time just slips away like a thief in the night. Those who want to go where the locals go should DEFINITELY check out Benfica. Start at Paraiba bar and go from there. Since Paraiba Bar is extremely popular – particularly on Fridays and Saturdays – seats may not be available. If not, be sure to check out the other bars in the area that I’ve listed above.

IS IT WORTH IT? YES! YES! YES!

HOW TO GET THERE: UBER and TAXI are the best options

  1. […] Benfica Neighborhood near Gentilandia Square – VERY local area that features the college, bohemian, alternative, artistic local crowd. For lunch, check out CULINARIA DA VAN , which features regional cuisine in a cool environment. Vegetarians should check out MANDIR . After lunch or later in the day, go around the corner to MERCADO DO CAFE for coffee and sweets. At night, go bar hopping in the Gentilandia Square area. […]
